Third Reich Berlin Private Tour

Explore the rise and fall of Nazi Germany through the streets of Berlin on a private 3.5 hour tour with an experienced history guide.

THE BERLIN WORLD WAR II THIRD REICH TOUR

This 3.5-hour private guided tour explores the rise and fall of Nazi Germany through the streets of Berlin. Visit the sites where the regime governed, where resistance was suppressed and where the final Battle of Berlin brought the Third Reich to an end in 1945.

Your guide will explain how the Nazi Party rose from the political turmoil of the Weimar Republic, how Hitler was appointed Chancellor in 1933 and how Germany was transformed into a dictatorship. Along the way, you’ll also visit memorials dedicated to those persecuted and murdered by the Nazi regime.

Many of the most important locations are easy to overlook today. With an experienced private guide, you’ll uncover the history behind surviving buildings, former government sites, memorials and places connected with Hitler’s final days in Berlin.

How Did Hitler and the Nazis Come to Power?

Nazi Party did not simply seize control of Germany overnight. During the political and economic crises of the early 1930s, it gained substantial electoral support and became the largest party in the Reichstag in July 1932, winning around 37% of the vote — but not a majority.

Adolf Hitler was not directly elected Chancellor. President Paul von Hindenburg appointed him to the position on 30 January 1933 after conservative politicians believed they could use Hitler’s popular support while keeping him under control. They badly underestimated him.

Once in office, Hitler and the Nazis rapidly dismantled Germany’s democratic institutions. The Reichstag Fire Decree, political violence, suppression of opponents and the Enabling Act helped establish a dictatorship within months. The tour follows this transformation from fragile democracy to Nazi rule and ultimately to Germany’s defeat in 1945.
